I am not quite the best home decorator. I mean my living room curtains match my couch, but that’s about all. I have books everywhere, pillows upon pillows and artwork that has nothing to do with the theme of the home. It is safe to say that I will not be receiving any awards for home decor anytime soon. Thankfully, I am ok with that. The inside of the home, is just so difficult to keep up with when I’m trying to save the world. Plus, if truth be told, I just like to be comfy.
The outside of the home is a different story. I still will not be winning any awards, but after my lawn is cut, everything looks put together. The roof is in great condition, my porch is in tact and a paint job is not needed. What a relief it is to not have to put so much time and effort into things that are easy to mask.
Unfortunately, how many of us use this method when dealing with the daily tasks of living. Our face is masked with the best foundation and award winning eye shadow, our clothes are tailored and magazine worthy and our hair is in place no matter which way we turn.
But what is going on within? The depression rate is at an all time high and we often do not practice the self-care that we deserve.
So this summer, I plan to work on the inside of my home, summer cleaning and organizing. I have realized that being comfy isn’t enough. I have also been working on the beauty within and encourage you to do the same. Let’s clean out our inner closets and remove the excessive baggage. Let’s take time to dust off past and current pain and provide a new coat of healing.
No more masking inner thoughts or feelings. No more saying no to your happiness. Let’s claim our happiness from the inside out. Our lives depend on it.
I appreciate your perspective and I’m in the process of doing some dusting and applying a new coat of healing. Thank you for being you
Well said! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
